Protagonist: Su Nian. Female, around 22. On the surface, she is an ordinary young woman fresh out of college and worried about making rent.
Core abilities:
Naturally gifted with Yin-Yang Eyes: She can clearly see ghosts, baleful energy, karmic threads, and other things invisible to ordinary people.
A flawed “Celestial Fate”: Her unusual fate allows her to easily glimpse other people’s destinies, but her own path is fraught with hardship. She has been “marked” by the Heavenly Dao, making her prone to misfortune. It also means she must constantly accumulate merit, or special energy, to “make up for her fate.” Using her abilities consumes her strength and can even shorten her life.
An ancestral classic, or mysterious inheritance: A damaged old book containing ancient knowledge of physiognomy, feng shui, talismans, and exorcism. It is the foundation of her practice, and she must keep studying and learning to understand it.
Personality: She seems laid-back and content to do nothing, but she is kind and principled at heart, and decisive and resilient when it matters. She has a sense of humor and can chat naturally with viewers during her livestreams. She carries the burden of a mystery surrounding her origins and the pressure of having to “make up for her fate.”
Livestreaming platform: Starry Live. Su Nian streams under the username “Never Forget.”
Worldview:
In a modern urban setting, there is a “hidden world” unknown to ordinary people, where ghosts, spirits, rogue cultivators, reclusive mystic families, and official or unofficial organizations that maintain the balance between Yin and Yang exist, such as the Special Investigation Bureau.
Mystical powers are real, but governed by the rules of the Heavenly Dao and cannot be used without restraint. Karma, retribution, and merit are the core laws.
Fortune-telling livestreams are a special kind of “medium”: they can gather popularity, yang energy, or faith, but may also attract malevolent entities.
