- Shen Nian, a cultural relic restoration specialist, focuses on restoring a Qing Dynasty painting in the studio of the Palace Museum's Conservation Science Department. Ginkgo leaves drift down outside the window, but she is so absorbed that she loses track of time.
- Professor Chen, the director of the Palace Museum, brings in a sharply dressed young man, Cheng Yi, vice president of a multinational cultural investment group. He introduces the global touring exhibition project he is preparing, "Treasures of China."
- When they meet for the first time, Cheng Yi reaches out to shake hands and accidentally knocks over Shen Nian's restoration tools. They both crouch to pick them up and bump heads, leaving them in an awkward situation.
- Cheng Yi offers Shen Nian a high salary to join the project, but she flatly refuses, saying that "commercial exhibitions damage cultural relics." Cheng Yi is surprised by her bluntness.
- For three days in a row, Cheng Yi "runs into" Shen Nian at the Palace Museum. He discovers that she spends every lunch break sketching alone in a corner of the Imperial Garden, and begins to take an interest in this unusual young woman.
- Shen Nian's colleague, Sister Lin, urges her to consider Cheng Yi's offer, hinting that the museum is short on funds and that a partnership like this could benefit cultural relic preservation.
- Cheng Yi changes his approach. He stops bringing up work and instead asks Shen Nian about cultural relics. She gradually lets down her guard, and the light in her eyes as she talks about them moves Cheng Yi.
- Cheng Yi's boss, Mark, calls to press him for progress on the project, hinting that someone else will take over if he cannot secure the partnership. Cheng Yi feels the pressure.
- The Palace Museum holds a special exhibition, and Cheng Yi invites Shen Nian to visit with him. They have an animated discussion in front of the bronzes, and Shen Nian is surprised by Cheng Yi's expertise.
- A sudden downpour hits during their visit. Cheng Yi takes off his suit jacket to shield Shen Nian from the rain. Though soaked through, he insists on taking her home first.
- Shen Nian is touched by Cheng Yi's sincerity.
