Biography Series of Foreign Customs Officers Memoirs of Qing Pi: Me and the Chinese Customs (1874-1921)

This book is a memoir written by Qing Pi, a foreign member of the customs. Qingpi was born in London, his father was a senior registrar of the Chancery Court. After Qingpi graduated from Hallibury Middle School, he got the opportunity to work in the Chinese Customs because his father met Hurd. After coming to China, he worked in customs offices in Shantou, Jiujiang, Yantai, Shanghai, Tianjin, Hangzhou, Kowloon, Guangzhou, Hankou, Yichang, Xiamen, Fuzhou and other places, and was sent to the London office twice. Qingpi vividly recalled the scenery of various places, the social life of foreigners at the port, the internal affairs and factions of the customs, and the interactions with local officials. As an eyewitness of major events in the late Qing treaty ports, Qingpi's memoirs are of high historical value.
