After his business goes bankrupt, Li Tiezhu inherits a celestial master's legacy and uses its magic to swindle people. Starting in a mountain village, he makes money and seduces women under the pretense of healing the sick, telling fortunes, and reading feng shui, all while relying on his real abilities. He gradually expands into county towns and big cities, setting his sights on rich women and the families of wealthy men, using magic to solve their problems and cover up his schemes. Along the way, there are plenty of comic near-exposures. In the end, he gains both fame and fortune, only to attract the attention of a Taoist-robed stranger. His fate remains a mystery.
