This is a mash-up adaptation of the Four Great Classical Novels. Unlike other adaptations, it avoids the biggest pitfall: putting old wine in a new bottle. Having Lin Daiyu stand in Lingxiao Palace with a golden cudgel, cursing out the Tathagata, is essentially using absurdity to dismantle the sublime. When characters realize they are literary puppets, their anger becomes humanity’s truest creative spark.
