Where the Faint Light Ends

Shen Zhiwei and Pei Xubai have been a "fated disaster" ever since they were in the womb. One is as proud as a swan, the other as sharp-tongued as a black mamba. They've fought since childhood, yet each has quietly become part of the other's very being. As they approach college graduation, a carefully planned but accidentally misinterpreted "drunken confession" leaves them both convinced the other has no feelings for them. Pride and self-respect make them forcefully bury their budding love. Then an unexpected scandal threatens the Shen family's reputation, forcing both families' parents to intervene and, in the name of "taking responsibility," push the feuding pair into marriage. After the wedding, misunderstandings remain, pride gets in the way, and communication is lacking. Pei Xubai's ruthless manner in business and his instinctive "protective barbs" toward Shen Zhiwei fill their married life with tension and unseen wounds. When Shen Zhiwei sees Wen Huiling, a "close female friend" of Pei Xubai's (not actually a mistress, but a source of misunderstanding), and once again feels that he "doesn't care," her pride stops her from putting up with it any longer, and she resolutely asks for a divorce. Though shocked, Pei Xubai refuses by force. In their drawn-out battle over the divorce, they are forced to confront the love buried deep in their hearts, the misunderstanding from years ago, and all the pain in their marriage. As they push and pull through their love-hate relationship, the truth gradually comes to light, they learn to communicate and express themselves honestly, and in the end, they find their way back to each other.
