The Sixties: A Stolen, Brilliant Life

When she woke up, Lin Suxin, the youngest botanist at the Academy of Agricultural Sciences, had become a frail girl in the 1960s who shared her name. The original girl was the daughter of a family of government officials in the capital, but someone had maliciously switched her at birth, and she’d grown up struggling in the countryside. When she was eighteen, her birth parents finally came looking for her, and that was when the nightmare began. They brought her home only to send her in place of their beloved son to a remote rural area, so he could keep his urban household registration. As the train carried her toward the barren land, memories of her past life awakened along with a miraculous “affinity with plants.” Any dying plant could flourish again in her hands. This little golden finger became her greatest means of survival in this difficult era. Faced with rejection from the villagers, troublesome relatives secretly making life difficult for her, and harsh working conditions, Lin Suxin decided she wouldn’t put up with it anymore. She took on the troublemakers and got production moving. With her skilled hands, she made promising crops grow in the barren saline-alkali soil. In an era when people struggled to get enough to eat, she quietly made sure she had plenty. But gradually, she realized the tough man from the village Party secretary’s family, who always stared at her with wolf-cub eyes and was considered a “bad seed” by everyone in the village, might not be as dangerous as the rumors claimed. “How come the sweet potatoes in your plot are growing better than everyone else’s?” “...I was born knowing how.” “I don’t believe you. Unless you teach me.” “...” See how a transmigrated agricultural science expert uses her knowledge and golden finger to turn a terrible hand into a royal flush in the 1960s, finds the truest love of that era, and builds a brilliant life of her own!
