Qin Wu, heir to the Qin Group, wants to escape a business marriage to Xiao Lin, the cold and ruthless heir to the Xiao Group. She signs a one-year flash-marriage contract with Lu Chen, a coffee shop owner she met by chance: she gets her freedom, and he gets the funding to start a business. As they settle into married life, Qin Wu discovers that sunny, easygoing Lu Chen is hiding a lot. He is skilled in business warfare, knows upper-class etiquette inside out, and is well versed in the Xiao Group, none of which fits his identity as an “ordinary barista.”
When Qin Wu’s father is critically ill, Lu Chen stays by his side through the night. He also provides precisely timed help during a business crisis, and despite the constraints of their contract, the two begin to fall for each other. Just as their feelings grow, the truth tears everything apart: Lu Chen is actually Xiao Lin’s half-brother, driven out by the Xiao family and forced to conceal his identity. Xiao Lin further reveals that Lu Chen approached Qin Wu to get revenge on the Xiao family, leaving their marriage, which began as a transaction, on the brink of collapse.
