Wu Xie was an ordinary owner of an antique shop in Hangzhou, until a silk manuscript from the Warring States period shattered his peaceful life. The manuscript pointed to the mysterious Seven-Star Lu Palace, said to contain endless treasures and the secret of immortality. Driven by curiosity about the unknown, Wu Xie teamed up with his third uncle Wu Sansheng, the enigmatic Zhang Qiling, and the bold, loyal Wang Pangzi, and resolutely set off on an expedition.
As they entered the ancient tomb, they were met by the stench of decay and dangers lurking in the dark. The passageways were packed with traps. One careless step could trigger hidden arrows that would turn a person into a pincushion, while a slight shift in the stone slabs underfoot could send them plunging into a pit full of spikes. And traps were not the only threat: all manner of eerie creatures attacked them. Blood corpses possessed immense strength and claws as sharp as blades. Once one set its sights on you, survival was almost impossible. Corpse beetles swarmed like a tide, leaving nothing but bleached bones in their wake and giving their victims no chance to defend themselves.
As their exploration continued, they discovered that the tomb concealed a tangled struggle for immortality involving King Lu Shang, King Mu of Zhou, and Tiemiansheng. Seeking eternal life, King Lu Shang robbed King Mu of Zhou's tomb and donned a jade burial suit said to grant immortality. But his own strategist, Tiemiansheng, plotted against him and killed him, then took his place and lay inside the jade suit. The suit shed its outer layer once every five hundred years. If it was forcibly removed before then, the corpse would become a terrifying blood corpse. Wu Xie and the others encountered blood corpses that had once been King Mu of Zhou and King Lu Shang in the tomb, and were thrown into a fierce, perilous battle.
As they sought the truth, Wu Xie and his companions had to fight to the death against the tomb's traps and its mysterious creatures, while also watching out for the sinister forces closing in around them. Those factions would stop at nothing to seize the tomb's treasures, laying trap after trap along the way.
