[Farming + Rebirth + Family Life + Making a Fortune + A Touch of Ensemble Cast + Imperial Exams + Revenge]
There is not a trace of romantic affection between the male and female leads.
Two people who once struggled through the mire ultimately became the people they wanted to be.
In her previous life, the widow Xu Shunniang devoted herself heart and soul to raising three children. In the end, though, her favored second daughter and youngest son turned out to be ungrateful leeches.
One day, she fell and injured herself while gathering firewood in the mountains. Those two brats left her to die. By the time her eldest daughter heard what happened and rushed over, nothing could be done. Xu Shunniang died unable to rest in peace.
Reborn in a new life at thirty-three, with none of her children married yet, she wastes no time cutting off her unfilial daughter and son. She takes her eldest daughter, severs ties with her husband's family, and establishes a household of her own.
Making a living as a woman is no easy thing, so she rolls up her sleeves and starts with a roadside stall. Her business grows more successful by the day, and she eventually becomes a wealthy local magnate.
That September, she rescues a blood-covered scholar named Ning Xiaoyu beneath a tavern.
Strikingly handsome and talented, he was tricked by powerful nobles into entering Luming Academy, where he endured twelve years of humiliation before being tortured to death. After his spirit wandered for fifteen years, he happened to be reborn on the night he was murdered, and she saved him.
With memories of his previous life and astounding talent, Ning Xiaoyu settles accounts with each of the people who once tormented him while preparing for the imperial exams. He goes on to place first in the provincial and palace examinations, then returns home in glory to improve the lives of the people in his region.
Super beautiful, especially the part with Ning Xiao in the back
