The Ginkgo Leaves Will Remember the Shape of the Wind

When the first ginkgo leaf landed on the library windowsill, the wind quietly memorized its shape. As the notebook of Lin Xi, a literature student, blew open, Chen Yu, a freshman in computer science, bent down to pick up the page of poetry titled "Norton's Burning." From campus to wedding bells, from two people to a family of three, three decades of seasons held countless secrets in their ginkgo leaves: walking side by side when the library closed, love poems hidden in code, a safety charm clenched in a crumpled fist outside the delivery room, a ginkgo specimen that suddenly appeared in a child's schoolbag... Zhou Mingyu's white roses withered again and again. Shenzhen had no ginkgo trees in autumn, while a copy of The Little Prince in London held an unopened promise. When An'an wrote a confession in code that crossed the strait, and Xiao Xing, covered in scars, rushed into the candlelight of an eighteenth birthday, we finally understood: the wind's path is never a straight line, just as the rings along a book's spine bear the gentle marks of time. Every groove is a tender footnote to the years. The leaves torn apart by misunderstandings and the longing stretched by distance were eventually pieced back together by time, returning to their original form. It turns out the most moving thing is not never being apart, but knowing that no matter which way the wind blows, a ginkgo leaf will remember how we once loved.
