Walker of the Abyss

An ordinary young man who believes firmly in reason and order finds his fate utterly overturned when he touches a cold bronze mirror covered in rust. Twisted visions, lunatic mutterings, a gaze that pierces straight into his brain… He is forced to confront a terrifying reality: what blankets the world is not an intangible “spiritual energy,” but “Abyssal Cognition contamination,” which distorts perception and erodes reason. The history of human civilization is riddled with gaps, and beneath the shadows of bustling cities lie abnormal forbidden zones known as “Corrupted Domains,” where terrifying beings mutated by contamination roam.

As this “resurgence of cognitive contamination” quietly descends, he gains the ability to glimpse fragments of information left behind by objects and places. A mysterious scale lets him obtain mysterious energy through equivalent exchange, as if touching the ghosts of the past. But this power comes at a heavy price: every recollection and every exchange pushes him closer to the abyss of mental contamination. Whispers never cease in his ears, and madness follows like a shadow.
