A boy who lost everything on the night of the blood moon sets out on a path of slaughter in the name of revenge.

Ten-year-old Sakura once had a poor but loving home. Then, on an ordinary summer night, a terrifying being called a “demon” appeared and brutally slaughtered his parents and his little sister, Sayuri. Witnessing the scene of hell, Sakura erupted in unbearable grief and rage. With his extraordinary night vision, deep-seated hatred, and the heavy pair of gardening shears his father had left behind, he miraculously struck back against the demon in the face of certain death, holding on until sunrise turned it to ash.

At death’s door, Sakura is saved by the newly appointed Flower Hashira, Kanae Kocho, and taken to the Demon Slayer Corps’ medical headquarters, the Butterfly Mansion. From Kanae and her younger sister, Shinobu Kocho, Sakura learns where demons come from: Muzan Kibutsuji. He also learns of the weapons and techniques used to fight them: the Nichirin Blade and Breathing Style. His physical wounds can heal, but his inner scars become an unquenchable fire of revenge. Sakura once rejected the idea that “protecting others” could soothe his pain. He holds only one cold, unshakable conviction:

Become stronger! Become the strongest Hashira! Pave the road to his family’s rest with the ashes of every demon!

Bearing the pain of his family’s slaughter and a bone-deep hatred, how will this boy, in a body covered in scars, take up the blade that slays demons and carve out a bloodstained future on this thorny road of despair?
