A Deliveryman Dies of Heat and Transmigrates as an Illegitimate Son in the Tang Dynasty

My name is Chen Xiao. I was a modern-day courier who, after suffering heatstroke, woke up in the Tang dynasty as the illegitimate son of a merchant family.

My stepmother was cruel, and my legitimate older brother beat me mercilessly. They even stripped me of my name, calling me only “Ninth Lad.”

New to this world, I tried to run away, but collapsed in the Western Market. A foreign merchant named Abbas rescued me.

Using my modern knowledge of logistics management, I helped Abbas optimize his caravan routes, cutting shipping time from Chang’an to the Western Regions in half.

Jealous of my success, my older brother conspired with the authorities to frame me for smuggling banned goods.

In court, I presented a proposal on Silk Road trade that left Wei Zheng, the Chief Justice of the Court of Judicial Review, so stunned he walked out on the spot.

Changsun Wuji, the powerful man backing my brother, personally stepped in to pressure me. “You wretch, how dare you presume to discuss state affairs?”

I responded by presenting blueprints for an improved chain pump and curved-beam plow. “These will increase the harvest in Guanzhong by thirty percent.”

Li Shimin swept aside the curtain and strode out. “He is my illegitimate son. How dare any of you treat him with contempt?”
