The Republic of China was in troubled times. Su Manshu, a female student from the English Department, accidentally met Shen Yanzhi from the Chinese Department in the corridor of St. John's University. A spring rain, a copy of "Ci Yu", and the red silk bookmark falling in the wind became the beginning of their fate.
Shen Yanzhi appreciated Su Manshu's talent and accompanied her to look for inspiration in the journal room of the Book Sea, and helped her revise the rejected poem manuscripts. In their free time, they would watch movies and eat Yangchun noodles together, and their love took root in the trivial daily life. Shen Yanzhi brought back Yuebai foreign cloth from Peiping to make a cheongsam for her. Su Manshu wore it to the appointment, full of joy.
However, the war in the twenty-sixth year of the Republic of China broke this tranquility. Shen Yanzhi threw himself into the turbulent situation, leaving only a camphor wood box and the sentence "I will come back when your poems can be published in newspapers." After that, Su Manshu guarded the "Shu Yan Bookstore", caressing the old things he left behind on snowy winter nights, recalling every bit of their lives. The red ribbon became the only connection between her and her lover, and it was also the light of hope that supported her through the long years. But, will this waiting finally lead to Shen Yanzhi's return?
