Jiangshi World: From the Start, I Meet Uncle Jiu
Genres: Transmigration, Supernatural, Fantasy
Li Ming had stayed up all night watching zombie movies. He woke with a jolt in the bone-chilling cold to find himself lying in an unfamiliar room that reeked of herbs and mildew. A yellowed hemp canopy, mottled earthen walls, a pile of straw in the corner, and two coffins covered in white cloth at the center shattered his sense of reality. This wasn't his rented apartment. It was a sinister funeral home straight out of a movie.
His whole body ached. He wore a coarse cotton jacket, and a dull pain at the back of his head overlapped with hazy fragments of memory: a dim mountain road, a figure in Qing official robes, a rank stench, an icy touch... “A zombie?” Just as fear overwhelmed him, Lin Zhengying, clad in a dark blue Taoist robe, pushed open the door. Behind him came the frivolous Qiusheng and the good-natured Wencai.
Uncle Jiu gave him a pill to suppress corpse energy and told him he'd been found unconscious in a mass grave, where he'd been rescued just in time. Renjia Town, zombies, Taoist arts... The familiar elements exploded in Li Ming's mind, and at last he was certain: he'd transmigrated into Uncle Jiu's zombie world!
Faced with zombies of tremendous strength and a mass grave full of dangers, Li Ming was unarmed and could only cling to Uncle Jiu for protection, hoping to learn Taoist arts and defend himself. But the nights at the funeral home were never peaceful. Shadows flickered, and eerie growls followed one after another. Uncle Jiu also began to suspect the strange aura about him: “the vitality of the living, mixed with foreign energies, and a faint trace of corpse energy.”
In this fantastical world, where death is all too common, can he survive with his memories of the movies and Uncle Jiu's protection? A perilous struggle to survive and subdue zombies, filled with fear and fervor, begins.
