“When you work with gods, you have to be more shameless than they are.”

“When you work with the uncanny, you have to be greedier than it is.”

Bad news spreads through the high-martial world...

After the cataclysm, a beast plague breaks out, turning the infected into puppets.

Those who call themselves normal build a system for manipulating all the puppets.

Mutated beasts lurk beyond the city, and “normal people” live within it. Some puppets accept their fate, some curry favor, some set up scam compounds, and some become geisha to make ends meet.

But Yan Yu chooses a dangerous “road to rebellion.”

He builds his body through injections and tempers his mind through deception.

He awakens his consciousness by “devouring gods.”

The first thing he does after getting out of prison

is eat one of his own kind.

Only after finishing the meal does he realize that the other person may not be one of his kind after all...
