Mr. Wei’s Captive Love

When Lan Sheng was a freshman in high school, she fell in love at first sight with Wei Mochen, a senior who had transferred in. He was a cool, brilliant student who scored top marks in every subject; she was a dazzling underachiever who consistently ranked near the bottom. Coming from a wealthy family, she saw his faded, washed-out uniform and went to great lengths to get close to him. Soon, the whole school knew her as “the underachiever chasing the top student.” No one believed in their relationship, but her persistence helped it blossom. Then, just as Wei Mochen finished his college entrance exams and their future seemed within reach, disaster struck the Lan family. To secure an investment from the Wei family, she was forced to agree to marry the powerful Wei family’s eldest grandson in Jiangcheng. All she could do was say the cruelest thing to Wei Mochen: “It was just for fun.” Then she turned and disappeared. Six years later, Lan Sheng was ready to honor the engagement as promised, but instead received notice that it was off. To save her family’s business and pay for her mother’s medicine, she went to great lengths to find the Wei family’s eldest grandson. But when she saw him, she froze. That face was unmistakably Wei Mochen’s, the man she had thought she’d left behind for good. The impoverished senior from her school days was actually the head of the Wei family, with control over Jiangcheng’s commercial lifelines. Facing his icy gaze, she finally understood that her “just for fun” had become a thorn in his heart. “Someone who betrays love doesn’t deserve to marry into the Wei family.” He tossed her a contract. “Three years. Be my secretary by day, and at night... I’ll do as I please with you. If the Lan family still hasn’t found its footing after three years, you’re on your own.”
