Xiaoyu Xiaoxia’s First Book

Every stroke a talismanist writes is inked with their own lifespan.”

Chu Yuan, the abandoned son of the Chu family, was born with a curse-like art of talismans. His primordial spirit can see the source of Heaven and Earth’s talismans, but every blood talisman he draws costs him years of life.

During the demon uprising in Dongning, he secretly reinforced the talismanic inscriptions on Yuyang Palace’s walls, only to find himself targeted by Meng Chuan’s blade. During the Yuanchu Mountain trials, he helped Meng Chuan break out of Chu Yong’s deadly scheme, leaving his left hand charred to the bone as white hair spread across his head.

The world believes he is a pawn planted by the Chu family. Only Li Shaoying, the Frost Night Princess, sees the truth in their spirits as they merge within an illusion:

The blood he coughs into his palm is the final formation point suppressing the corpse transformation;

The frost gathering on her sword is a blade of light that will shatter the shackles of imperial power.

When the Demon Sage Jiuyuan tears open the heavens, Chu Yuan burns away his primordial spirit to forge three thousand talisman chains and bind the demon sage. As his flesh and blood begin to break apart, he roars at Meng Chuan: “I’m leaving you this moment!”

And Li Shaoying’s icy blade cuts into half of her frost-bound soul. In the cold mist, she embraces his broken body:

> “No throne is worth more than the dying lamp you’ve guarded for ten years. Chu Yuan, your life belongs to me.”
