After Liu Wendao died, the soul-catcher Bai Wuyin escorted him to meet the King of Hell. With a wave of his hand, the King appointed him a teacher in the underworld. He could be reincarnated only after earning enough merit.
And so Liu Wendao began an endless stint of underworld labor.
“Mr. Liu, the human world is so wonderful. Why don’t you reincarnate?”
“Mr. Liu, you must be lying to us!”
“...”
But if he didn’t teach the ghosts, he couldn’t be reborn. Determined to earn the reincarnation token the King of Hell had promised him, Liu Wendao threw himself into the Underworld Academy, trying every day to persuade ghosts to reincarnate.
His dedication failed to move the heavens and instead landed him in plenty of trouble. Strangely, the soul-catcher who had brought him there was always quietly stepping in to resolve his difficulties.
Liu Wendao went to find him in person. “I really don’t deserve all this trouble from you, Sir Soul-Catcher. You must be very busy with official business...”
Bai Wuyin stood up and cut him off. “If I say you deserve it, then you do.”
Well, all right then...
A little story in the underworld about a sensitive, pitiful soul pretending to be tough, and a haughty, cold-blooded young master who is fragile on the inside. A little angst~
