Police Dog Xiao Qi: Xiao Qi, a black-and-yellow Springer Spaniel, is the standout explosives and narcotics detection dog at the Xiangcheng Police Dog Training Base. His nose cuts through layers of concealment, sniffing out packages of drugs hidden among piles of freight and detecting traces of explosives amid the rubble.
The cover captures Xiao Qi crouched and poised to spring, the wind lifting his yellow-and-white coat. His bright black eyes are fixed ahead, and his nose twitches as he locks onto a target. The words “Police Dog” on his protective vest stand out beneath the flashing police lights. Beside him, Officer Zhu Xiaohan watches with a sharp gaze, perfectly in sync with her partner.
The pair’s daily life is made up of grueling training and alert, focused work at crime scenes. From the first light of dawn to the stars of deep night, Xiao Qi uses his keen sense of smell to cut through the fog of crime and his loyalty to protect the city’s peace. This is more than the story of a police dog growing up: it’s a stirring legend written with a nose.
