Siheyuan: The Everyday Gossip of a Technician Couple

Liu Guangqi and Wu Lili, a young couple who had unexpectedly traveled from modern times into the world of Love in the Courtyard, arrived in the 1960s with their own “cheats.” Wu Lili bonded with a gossip System, giving her access to all the household squabbles and juicy secrets in and around the courtyard. Liu Guangqi, meanwhile, had a sign-in System that gave him mechanical blueprints or practical supplies every day.

With solid mechanical engineering expertise and the help of their Systems, the two thrived in the technical department of the Red Star Steel Mill. Liu Guangqi focused on technical innovation, using the blueprints he received from signing in as a powerful tool. After Wu Lili became pregnant, she switched to administrative work. She seemed to be busy organizing documents, but in reality, her “gossip radar” was always on. She could pinpoint clues in the System’s vast supply of gossip that might affect project schedules or workplace relationships, and deftly resolve problems.
