On a golden autumn day in the city, single dad Chen Meng works as a food delivery rider, carrying his adorable daughter An’an with him as he weaves through streets and alleys. His greatest wish is to give his daughter a warm, stable home.
One day, fate takes an unexpected turn, and Chen Meng binds himself to an eccentric “All-Round Delivery Rider System.” Whenever he earns a tip on a delivery through a “non-delivery skill,” he can randomly unlock an unexpected ability!
And so, Chen Meng’s ordinary life starts to go “off course.” He only wants to deliver food honestly and earn money for formula, but he keeps doing inexplicable things without meaning to, thanks to the “unconventional abilities” the System grants him. The people around him let their imaginations run wild, falling deep into “misinterpretation mode”:
A simple home-cooked meal he whips up has food critics scrambling to report on it, exclaiming that no one in the world can cook like this and even suspecting he’s a hidden descendant of the imperial chefs!
Hurrying to make a delivery, he pulls off a “god-tier” series of evasive moves amid traffic. Security footage of the feat goes viral, earning him countless worshippers who hail him as an “urban legend”!
The lullaby he hums to An’an gets uploaded online and takes the internet by storm, hailed as a “heavenly voice” and attracting the “misguided admiration” of music superstars!
As customers’ worship grows ever more exaggerated and the “misunderstandings” keep piling up, Chen Meng insists: “I’m really just an ordinary food delivery guy!” All he wants is to bring An’an up amid their warm, funny day-to-day life, using these seemingly “unproductive” abilities to bring his daughter more joy and make the most of life.
The rhythm is tight, the whole text is free of nonsense, and the language is delicate in stages. Recommended reading
It's not particularly refreshing, it gives people a bland, homely atmosphere, and tastes like a snack. The author should work hard to write more powerful works.
