It tells the story of Zhao Tiechui, a young man from the central Hebei Plain, who fought against Japan during the war. In July of the 26th year of the Republic of China, Zhaojiawa was originally immersed in the tranquility of a good harvest, but was crushed by the iron hoof of the Japanese invasion. The Japs' burning, killing, and looting reduced the village to scorched earth. Zhao Tiechui's parents and neighbors died tragically one after another, and the once beautiful home became a hell on earth.
Before his death, his father asked him to go to the north slope to look for a man wearing a gray cloth coat and a gun with red five stars. Carrying the hatred of family and country, Zhao Tiechui took his ancestral gun and the only remaining foreign money, bid farewell to his hometown devoured by the war, and got into the green gauze tent. He will embark on the road to find the anti-Japanese team in troubled times, gradually grow from an ordinary farmer to an anti-Japanese warrior, and use his blood and courage to write his own chapter of resistance in the war-torn mountains and rivers.
