After suppressing her emotions for a long time at work, Lin Yue finally loses her temper at her supervisor during a meeting about an important project and quits. In accordance with labor law, the company pays her a severance package. The money gives her the means to travel and unwind, opening up the possibility of finding love and starting a new life.
In a way, this emotional outburst is the catalyst for a series of lucky turns that change the course of her life, which had previously followed the routine of a “workhorse.”
I know this book may be a little idealistic. Workplace conflicts are resolved too easily, whereas real-life workplace injustice is often much more complicated, with lawsuits and litigation cropping up all the time. I glossed over some of the challenges of managing finances and handling paperwork, leaving out some of life's very real obstacles. But life is already so hard. I just want to tell a warm story about escaping the rat race and embracing a slower pace of life. That's always been my personal wish, though I may never be able to live like the heroine. I hope this story makes you feel warm and happy as you read it. That's what I want, too.
