City of Strange Dreams: My Hallucinations Can Rewrite Reality
Urban supernatural powers, Cthulhu Mythos, light rule-based horror, wild imagination, suspense, ensemble cast (contains female characters, skip if that bothers you)
“When your hallucinations begin to devour reality, are you a madman or a god?”
Wang Xiu has been tormented by hallucinations since childhood. Doctors diagnosed him with a severe mental illness.
Until the day he awoke in a raging fire, and a line of bloody writing appeared on the soot-blackened wall:
“Your hallucinations are a doorway to the real world.”
A mysterious key drew him into a “castle” that did not exist in reality, where he became its steward.
There
One word from him, “Silence,” and the incessantly chattering Gatekeeper woman suddenly lost her voice, wrinkles coiling around her throat like chains.
He flicked his finger against the wall, and the entire corridor twisted as if coming alive, swallowing a treacherous employee into the bricks.
When an evil cult sacrificed an entire city, he declared with a cold laugh, “This place belongs to the castle.” The conspiracy was instantly frozen into an oil painting on the wall.
It turned out his hallucinations… were seeping into reality.
But a mirror deep within the castle warned him:
“You think you’re controlling this power? No. It’s raising you like livestock.”
When Wang Xiu finally stood before the mirror, he saw his reflection curl its lips into a smile:
“Welcome back, the 73rd ‘Lord of Illusory Reality.’”
