The Merman’s Fall

My older brother went out to sea to fish and came back with a beautiful mermaid.

Her skin was as white as snow. Her upper body was bare, while her shimmering lower half glinted with pale blue scales.

“Yaoyao, once we’ve skinned her, I’ll make you a fairy dress. How does that sound?”

But that night, I saw my brother force the mermaid to kneel before him, making strange, blissful sounds.

Only later did I suddenly discover scales growing on my own body, too.
