This book is called Sequel to Suppressing the Bandits. It is a continuation of Suppressing the Bandits by the Qing writer Yu Wanchun, but why was it written? Because that old scoundrel Yu Wanchun wrote Suppressing the Bandits to smear and slander the Liangshan heroes from beginning to end, running counter to the spirit of Shi Nai’an’s original Water Margin. These days, theories about conspiracies in Water Margin are rampant, all because of that book. Why let such a vile, depraved work remain? Alas, the book has been in the world for a hundred years, and there is no stopping old Yu’s malicious intent. Fortunately, I too have a pen, and I will continue Suppressing the Bandits, hoping to comfort the hearts of Water Margin fans and fulfill a wish I have long held.
