Eight hundred years of brotherhood, thrown into doubt in a single day. Xie Bi'an, the White Impermanence, took on the identity of the traitor "White Seven" and infiltrated Hell, all to prove that his sworn brother Fan Wujiu, the Black Impermanence, was innocent.
But what he saw broke his heart: Fan Wujiu had become "Black Abyss," Hell's commander, clad in dark armor and wielding a demonic blade, his killing aura soaring. He coldly slaughtered his former comrades and even "refined" a hundred thousand souls before Satan! The crimson soul lantern seemed like irrefutable proof.
Trust shattered, grief and rage engulfed him. At the final battle by the River of Forgetfulness, Xie Bi'an tried to kill the traitor, only to be ambushed by the Judge. In that moment between life and death, the killing intent vanished from "Black Abyss's" eyes. He sacrificed himself, his soul scattering, and used the soul lantern to block the fatal blow!
Silver light burst from the lantern, revealing a shocking truth: the hundred thousand souls were all sleeping safely! The crimson "refinement" had been an elaborate lie! Fan Wujiu had never betrayed anyone. He had made his own soul their prison and guarded the abyss alone, all so he could entrust them in that final moment: "Take them... home..."
The Judge was executed, and the traitor within was put to death. Xie Bi'an held the broken lantern close. A tiny golden flame at its wick gave off a faint warmth, reflecting his brother's relieved smile. The River of Forgetfulness wept as the ferry set off. Xie Bi'an, the White Impermanence, would finally walk alone onto the eternal crossing, bearing the departed's trust and the undying glimmer of light within the soul lantern.
Really nice to look at.
