The story is very good
The protagonist is a rare local, not a time traveler. The plot of the story is not bad, the pace is a bit slow and drawn out. From Moby Dick to the White House, then to confession and escape, these things are all connected by the line of Tower of Dawn. The events are closely connected, but after all, the first volume is called Tower of Dawn. The protagonist is a local favored by God. He is not an orphan, but has parents and a sister (really rare).
