Summer Meets the Branch

[Refined, aloof mathematics professor x imaginative, rational web-novel author] [One-on-one romance, both leads chaste, love at first sight, happy ending]

Shang Zhi is busy taking part in the <Summer Writing Project>, frantically writing and stockpiling chapters for her new novel, and completely forgets that she needs to contact an advisor for her graduation thesis. When she opens the spreadsheet in her class group chat, she finds just one available advisor: He Yushi. Shang Zhi has never taken one of his classes in her three years at university. She quietly copies his email address and sends the introduction email she prepared long ago.

“Received. Student Shang, you can add me using the contact information below so we can stay in touch. Have a pleasant summer.”

Shang Zhi thinks she won’t meet the professor until she visits his office after the new semester begins. She never imagines that her new roommate, whose looks and physique are exactly her type, is also her thesis advisor.

“He Yushi... Haha, what a coincidence! I just contacted my thesis advisor a few days ago, and his name is the same as yours.”

The man helping her carry her luggage falls silent for a few seconds, then slowly replies, “Student Shang, I don’t think my name is particularly common.”

“Zhizhi, congratulations on graduating.”

At the graduation ceremony, He Yushi personally presents Shang Zhi with the Outstanding Graduate award. Their eyes meet, and he can’t hide the love in his gaze.

That evening at home, their breaths mingle. Shang Zhi buries her face in the hollow of He Yushi’s neck and softly says, “Professor He, congratulations on your graduation too.”
