The Palace Has Yet to Warm, Your Majesty, You Owe Me a Life

Shen Wantang, daughter of the Grand General Who Guards the Nation, grew up with the young emperor Xiao Jingheng. She married him and became empress, but the empress dowager feared the power of the General’s Residence and framed her for plotting to murder the third prince. Stripped of her title, Shen Wantang was sent to the Cold Palace. There, she endured endless abuse, only to discover that she was pregnant. For her child’s sake, she bore the humiliation and secretly gathered evidence. She also learned that Xiao Jingheng knew she had been wronged, but had no choice but to distance himself from her in order to weaken the powerful clans and consolidate imperial power.

Later, the empress dowager seized an excuse to destroy the General’s Residence. Utterly despairing, Shen Wantang resolved to take revenge. Drawing on her martial skills and former connections, she joined forces with old allies in the palace and upright officials at court, exposing the empress dowager’s crimes step by step and regaining power. Only then did Xiao Jingheng realize he had lost the woman he loved most. He tried to win her back, but Shen Wantang’s heart had already turned cold. In the end, she brought down the empress dowager but refused to return to Xiao Jingheng. She left the palace with her child, leaving him to spend the rest of his life alone.
