The Nine Dragons Guard the River

In the ancient Primordial World, Heaven and Earth had just opened, and chaos had yet to be divided. After Pangu created Heaven and Earth, his blood became the four seas and eight wildernesses, his bones became mountains, and his eyes became the sun and moon. In the middle reaches of the Yuan River, upstream from Dongting Lake in Wuling Commandery, the spiritual energy of Heaven and Earth gathered into nine dragon pearls, giving rise to nine divine dragons of different forms: Zhulong (Crimson Flame), Yinglong (Azure Thunder), Kuilong (Dark Wind), Huanglong (Thick Earth), Qinglong (Green Wood), Bailong (Frost and Snow), Heilong (Netherwater), Jinlong (Radiant Gold), and Yinlong (Flowing Roselight). Following Pangu's dying command, the Nine Dragons guarded the Yuan River's dragon veins, transforming their blood into nine streams that nourished all living things. The ancient beast Taotie coveted the power of the Yuan River's dragon veins and secretly joined forces with the sealed Demon Ancestor Luohou to sow discord among the Nine Dragons. Taotie took human form, disguising himself as a strategist of the dragon clan. He incited Zhulong to seize the title of “Dragon Chief,” sparking a civil war among the Nine Dragons. Luohou seized the opportunity to devour the spiritual energy of the nine streams, hoping to break his seal and return to the world.
