Lin Xiaoyao was an ordinary college student until he unexpectedly saved Su Meier, a nine-tailed fox demon who had failed her tribulation. He awakened an ancient inheritance, the Myriad Ages Xiaoyao Art, and from then on entered the hidden world of urban cultivation.
Using the wondrous powers of the Xiaoyao Art, he roams the bustling city, righting wrongs and settling scores:
Business world: He saves Ye Qingxue, the icy CEO trapped in a conspiracy, resolves the backlash from her Profound Yin constitution, and wins her over as his Dao companion;
Ancient martial world: At the Chu family’s martial arts tournament to find a husband, he crushes the geniuses and tames the proud young lady Chu Yanran;
Cultivation world: He sees through the hypocrisy of the righteous sects’ leader and explores an ancient secret realm with Liu Ruyan, the sword-cultivating holy maiden;
Demon world: At an auction, he rescues Yin Li, a dragon-human hybrid girl, and uncovers the Bloodhand Sect’s dark dealings in breeding spirit beasts.
As his strength grows, Lin Xiaoyao discovers that the so-called “spiritual qi revival” is actually a scheme devised by an ancient immortal sect. They are using the modern city as a cauldron to harvest the vital essence of all living beings and rebuild the path to immortality. As this calamity sweeps across the human, demon, and immortal races, Lin Xiaoyao joins forces with four beloved companions:
Su Meier awakens the forbidden arts of the Qingqiu fox clan
Ye Qingxue mobilizes the resources of her trillion-yuan conglomerate
Liu Ruyan unites cultivators from the Thirty-Six Grotto-Heavens
Yin Li summons the slumbering dragon clan’s battle formation
At last, atop Mount Kunlun, Lin Xiaoyao uses the Xiaoyao Art to defy the Heavenly Dao and shatters the immortal sect’s plot with a single sword strike. After the battle, he establishes the “Xiaoyao Immortal Alliance” and retreats to a hidden paradise with his beloved companions. He occasionally returns to the city to punish evil and uphold justice, leaving behind countless legends.
