The Qingfeng Spirit-Plant Shop: Outer-sect disciple Lin Fan is sent to farm the barren Qingfeng Hollow, but accidentally awakens a slumbering lazy dragon. From then on, the spirit fields become decidedly “unproductive”: spirit rice grows silver grains, potatoes gleam gold, and even the weeds brim with spiritual energy.
To protect this miraculous land, he is forced to team up with a group of girls. Su Xiaoxiao, a pill-furnace-exploding prodigy, keeps turning her furnace into a fireworks display; Leng Ningshuang, the stern senior sister in charge of discipline, wants to chop down his “evil plants” every day; the bookkeeper Murong Yue calculates faster than an abacus; and Baizhi, a healer from the medicine hall, is “kidnapped” by a bubble fish and made to work in the shop.
Even more outrageous is the divine-beast squad: spirit-devouring gophers that steal spirit rice and still dare to flirt with the senior sister; a cauldron spirit that breathes fire, singes its own tuft of hair, and bursts into tears; a transparent fish that kidnaps people by trapping them in bubbles; and silver silk worms that spin silver thread into “necklaces” for people.
From the chaotic opening of the spirit-plant shop to ridiculous training adventures, this motley crew of people and beasts keeps Qingfeng Hollow buzzing with one bizarre stunt after another. As for the lazy dragon? It’s busy using its dragon aura to speed up the spirit plants and snatching discarded pills. Every so often, it shows a scale as the secret boss, then secretly delights underground as it watches everyone make a mess.
This is a laugh-out-loud story about farming your way into romantic entanglements, with divine beasts causing more trouble than people. In Qingfeng Hollow, unless you have some bizarre special skill, you can hardly call yourself a spirit plant (or a person)!
It was so interesting, I was fascinated by it without even realizing it.
