[Two heroines / One-on-one romance / Past and present lives / Happy ending]
When Zhang Xun was twelve, the general's only daughter protected the young lady from the neighboring household at their private school. In return, she gained a taciturn little shadow: Zhou Tong.
Two years later, Zhang Xun happened to learn from her mother that her father was looking for a good husband for her, and that she should also search for a suitable match. So Zhang Xun took Zhou Tong by the hand and went to a temple to draw a fortune stick, hoping to discover who her destined husband was.
The verse read:
“You ask of love before the Buddha, so why seek your match elsewhere? Your beloved is already by your side; your bond was forged five hundred years ago.”
Zhang Xun silently recited the verse. When she looked up, her eyes met Zhou Tong's across from her.
“Sister A Xun, what does it say?”
Were Zhou Tong's eyes simply too bright? Why was Zhang Xun's heart beating so fast?
When the dream ended, Zhang Xun opened her eyes. The living room was dim behind the drawn curtains, and as her vision came into focus, Zhou Tong's face appeared before her.
“You're awake? Come eat.”
“Zhou Tong, I think... I dreamed about you.”
“What did you dream about?”
“I can't remember. But my heart is beating so fast.”
