"New Journey to the West: Rekindled the Tribulation" takes the Nine-Nine-Eighty-One Difficulty as its foundation, but it goes beyond defeating demons.
The four masters and apprentices who returned from studying scriptures continued their practice in Chang'an Sutra Pavilion: Sun Wukong's golden cudgel became a broken stick to protect the scriptures, Zhu Bajie's rake often steamed steamed buns for the people, Sha Wujing's shoulder pole carried scriptures and human fireworks, and Tang Monk's prayer beads strung firewood, rice, oil, salt and the true meaning of Buddhism.
From the test of family ties entangled by secular roots, to the inner struggle with demonic thoughts; from the entanglement of the past obscured by time and space, to the epiphany of impermanence caused by the aging of the body... The last difficulty is to let go of the obsession with "perfection." They gradually understood that the Holy Scriptures were never on the pages of the Holy Mountain, but in the broom of the street sweeper, on the weighing beam of the tofu scholar, and in the hearts of every ordinary person who lives seriously.
This is not the end of the journey to the west, but the starting point of practice - when supernatural power gives way to the human heart and disasters become daily life, the four masters and disciples have long been integrated with the fireworks of Chang'an, so that the sound of the sutras will never go out in the world.
