The world is maintained by "bloodline". Each family controls the power of a natural element (such as fire, stars, tides), but the bloodline will decay over time. The protagonist is a "Pulseless One" (without any elemental abilities), but unexpectedly discovers that he can repair other people's bloodline defects, and is involved in a war between major forces competing for the "Bloodline Wheel" (a legendary artifact that can reset the world's energy).
