The Last Lamp's Ember

The Lin family was richer than a nation, but in a single night, it became a living hell. I dragged my crippled body through the troubled times, scraping by for sixty years and tasting every bitterness life had to offer. In my old age, I returned to the place I once called home. The stone lions before the ancestral hall had blood-red eyes, and dark red seeped through the cracks in the blue brick floor. As I closed my eyes against the crumbling wall, I heard the laughter of my childhood. “Do you want revenge?” A voice from the void was as sweet as honey. When I opened my eyes again, I had become a dying infant of the Murong family. In this life, I will use the ways of commerce to weave a net that leaves no escape. Those who destroyed my family, just watch as the wealth you cherish most crushes you.
