The Consort Who Ruled the Harem Suddenly Started Fighting for Favor

(A traditional historical romance, with both leads remaining faithful to each other, and no golden finger.)

Wen Yu, the legitimate daughter of the Duke of An's family, was born into privilege. Her father was a high-ranking court official, and her aunt was the Empress Dowager.

When Wen Yu came of age, her father planned to marry her to Prince Qi, the strongest contender in the succession struggle, hoping to preserve the Wen family's glory in the imperial harem. But her aunt, the Empress Dowager, could not bear to see her suffer, and arranged for her to marry the legitimate eldest son of the Wang family of Taiyuan instead.

After the late emperor's reign came to an end, the long and turbulent succession struggle finally concluded. To everyone's surprise, it was Prince Shen, the most inconspicuous of them all, who ascended the throne.

The emperor's favor was impossible to predict. In the end, an imperial decree summoned Wen Yu back to the fated depths of the palace, where she became Consort Zhao, the recipient of boundless affection.

For the glory of her family, Wen Yu rose steadily through the ranks until, at last, she took the throne as empress.
