In the late spring of 1920, 16-year-old Su Yuheng dressed up as Du Liniang at a Kunqu opera hall held by the Su Family, a prominent family in Suzhou. The gleaming eyes between her sleeves moved Gu Yanshen. The two met for the first time under a tree filled with magnolia petals, and their fates became intertwined.
Gu Yanshen is an architect who returned from studying abroad. He was born into a comprador family in Shanghai. He appears gentle but secretly supports the underground party. He often travels to Suzhou on the pretext of restoring the Su family's old house, and has a secret love for Su Yuheng. However, the old grudge between the two families that the old grandmother vaguely mentioned stood like a shadow between them. As the May 30th Movement broke out, Gu Yanshen was wanted by the warlord and hid in the Su family. Su Yuheng discovered the revolutionary leaflets he had hidden and saw his complicated world for the first time. After that, Gu Yanshen's whereabouts were leaked, and Su Mingxuan betrayed the family in order to protect himself. The Su family fell into crisis, and Su Yuheng and Gu Yanshen were forced to separate.
The Su family moved to Shanghai. When Su Yuheng met Gu Yanshen again, he had become the owner of an architecture firm and was accompanied by his cousin Shen Manqing, who was distant from her. The Anti-Japanese War in Songhu broke out, the Su family was bombed, and the old grandmother was seriously injured. After Su Yuheng and Gu Yanshen quarreled, they learned about the old feud between the two families. Gu Yanshen fled because his identity was exposed, while Su Yuheng struggled alone in the whirlpool of fate.
After Shanghai fell, Su Yuheng fled to the mainland and was separated from his family. She rescued the orphan Nian An and struggled to survive by singing Kunqu opera and embroidering handkerchiefs. In Nanjing, she saw Gu Yanshen, a "traitor architect", and was filled with despair. Shen Manqing's report put her and Nian An into a desperate situation. Nian An died in the chaos. Su Yuheng's voice became hoarse from crying and he could no longer sing Kunqu opera.

The descriptions and characterizations are very delicate, and the literary flavor is quite strong, but on the platform of Tomato, it is normal for the audience to be small. I have the same idea as the big brother on the first floor. I hope the length will be longer and the plot will be more fleshed out.
The plot moves a little too fast, the writing is very good, so please give the author a boost!
