📚 Gaokao-exclusive youth fiction | This childhood-friends couple is just too adorable!
You guys, who else gets it? Watching these four lovable goofballs get through the Gaokao had me laughing till I cried, then secretly wiping away tears 😭
Jiang Mo, the walking answer to every class’s top-student quota. His answer sheet is filled out more neatly than the official key. His only “bug” is that he can’t stop sneaking secret glances at Cheng Xing, seated diagonally behind him.
Cheng Xing, a clingy childhood friend, certified by Jiang Mo. He usually acts like he owns the place, but before an exam he gets so nervous he can soak three tissues in his fist. Jiang Mo has to keep pinning his exam admission card back in place before he dares enter the exam hall.
Gu Xingzhu and Su Rui, the loudest cheer squad in history! They squat outside the exam hall holding a handmade sign that says, “Even if you bomb it, we can still have hot pot.” One is in charge of scoring hot pot dipping sauce, while the other remotely shoots daggers at Cheng Xing whenever he zones out.
Three days of Gaokao feel like one big reality show:
✔️ When Cheng Xing gets stuck on a math question, Jiang Mo’s glance saying “Look at the auxiliary line” works better than any formula.
✔️ Su Rui drinks his lucky soy milk with the swagger of a beer toast and spills it all over Gu Xingzhu’s arm.
✔️ A note passed during evening study hides a promise: “Let’s go to the beach after the exams.”
✔️ The four of them fight over the last piece of beef tripe at the hot pot restaurant harder than they’d fight for their admission letters.
So a top student’s love is really this simple: a notebook filled with all the key points for you, an unspoken look across the exam hall, and a hand you can finally hold in public once the exams are over ✨
Youth doesn’t need that many grand, sweeping moments. It’s just having someone beside you as you struggle through those impossible exam papers, then watching your worries bubble away in a hot pot together~
