Dating Show: I Wooed the Screen Queen into Becoming My Wife

Xia Wei, a wealthy heiress, disguises herself as an ordinary contestant to escape an arranged marriage and join a dating show. All she wants is to lie flat and eat boxed meals.

But on the very first day of filming, the rising movie star on the observation panel turns out to be her ex-girlfriend, Su Man, the one she’d cruelly told, “We’ll never see each other again, alive or dead,” when they broke up!

Xia Wei: “Is it too late to quit the show?!”

But then

Group assignments? She’s always “coincidentally” paired with Su Man.

Late-night heart-to-hearts? The movie star catches her sneaking up to the rooftop to slack off.

A male contestant makes a move? Su Man smiles and comments, “It’s nice to be young, but too bad you don’t know your place.”

And it gets even more ridiculous

Boxed meals turn into Michelin-starred food? Her parents say, “It’s a perk from the show. Eat up, sweetheart!” (Xia Wei: ? Isn’t this perk a little too luxurious?)

Her fighting skills are exposed? Su Man calmly smooths things over: “She’s a VIP at my gym.”

Her French negotiations give her away? Su Man tosses over a link: “She was an exchange student at my alma mater. Any objections?”

One day, Xia Wei can’t take it anymore and corners Su Man in the stairwell. “What exactly are you trying to do?!”

Su Man smiles and drops a bombshell:

“Weiwei, didn’t your parents tell you?”

“I’m your ‘loving’ arranged-marriage partner.”

“By the way, I anonymously sent you the link to sign up for the dating show as a ‘surprise.’”

Xia Wei: ???!!!

So her “first taste of free love” was an elaborate “get-back-together-and-get-married” trap, carefully set by her ex-girlfriend and both their families?
