Lin Chen was an orphan marginalized by the Temple, treated with disdain because of the “demon remnant” brand on his neck. When Temple Knights on patrol harass him at the blacksmith’s shop, he unexpectedly reveals his ability to fight back, and the rusty sword hilt in his hand draws everyone’s attention. It turns out the hilt is a fragment of the Divine Throne. Legend has it that the Divine Throne was broken into seven pieces and hidden across the world, each fragment possessing immense power.
The girl Aria, as radiant as moonlight, is the daughter of the Inquisition’s Third Elder and wears the “Dawn Medal,” a symbol of the Temple’s highest rank. She seeks out Lin Chen and reveals the shocking secret that someone within the Temple is trying to resurrect the Demon God. Her father’s mysterious death is connected to it as well. The serpent emblem on the jade pendant Aria produces matches the pattern on Lin Chen’s sword hilt, and the two set off to uncover the truth.
During their escape, they encounter a blind Temple Knight and learn the horrifying truth about the Demon God’s embryo and sacrifices of the living. They also obtain a parchment pointing to the locations of the final two Divine Throne fragments. In battles against Temple traitors and the Ice Demon Clan, Lin Chen discovers that he has a bloodline connection to the Divine Throne fragments, and the mystery of his origins gradually begins to unravel.
