A translator specializing in less commonly taught languages × A Marine Corps captain
[Second Chance at Love + Reunion After a Long Separation + Happy Ending]
“You said you loved the sea, so I’ll go with you to the ends of it.”
The smoke of war tore through the skies above Jixiersi, and the gunfire drowned out the screams of the militants. Lin Shuyu, in Africa to translate for a railway construction project, came face to face with her ex-boyfriend Lu Mingxu, who had been declared dead three years earlier...
He had protected vast stretches of ocean, yet lost the harbor where he most wanted to moor.
Pirates seized a research vessel carrying Chinese scientists and refused to negotiate in a common language. Lu Mingxu went to the nearest embassy to seek help.
When they first met, she wore a dark green dress and said to him with unwavering resolve, “I’m willing to go with you.”
He admired her courage and praised her boldness.
“I swear on my life that no matter how dangerous it gets, I’ll keep you safe.”
Later, she asked, “Lu Mingxu, what’s your next mission?”
He replied, “To protect your route. Wherever in the world you go to record its sounds, I’ll have your back.”
