Diaosi is an arrogant maniac. He always gets into a desperate situation and then explodes or something. If you have a trump card, shouldn't you use it early? You have to fight to the death with your partners before taking action.
The protagonist is a mage, but he doesn't use his brains, just for the sake of professional status, and then commits suicide when he has no strength. The contract he signed at the beginning seemed like a fool's errand. It was really brave to dare to sign a soul contract with a mage of unknown origin.
