Shen Nian, an author of political intrigue novels, dies suddenly and transmigrates into a book she wrote, becoming Shen Qingli, an illegitimate daughter of a Grand Tutor who doesn't survive three chapters. The moment she opens her eyes, her elder half-sister frames her for an illicit affair. Using the decade of criminal-investigation writing experience under her belt, she turns the tables, unaware that she's already caught the attention of someone deep within the game.
At the royal flower-viewing banquet, she pretends to be insane to avoid the plot. One remark, "His Highness the Seventh Prince will need to change tea suppliers next year," hits a secret nerve for Xiao Jue, an idle prince. He's the usurping villain she gave the deepest-hidden ambitions in her novel. He tests her with moves on the board; she maneuvers with the benefit of an author's perspective. "You seem to know quite a lot about me, Miss Shen." As they spar, she uses modern media tactics to help her legitimate elder brother escape trouble, draws a line at the humanitarian limits of his planned coup, and even turns the blame for his witchcraft plot against him with a scheme involving spices.
He grips her arm, marked with a writing callus, and demands to know her secrets. But when she takes a blade for him, he understands the distance and vulnerability in her eyes. The original heroine, Lin Wanrou, follows the script as she vies for favor, only to be repeatedly outmaneuvered by Shen Qingli and reduced to a pawn on the sidelines. After the crown prince falls, Shen Qingli turns against Xiao Jue to protect her family and helps the Third Prince fight for the throne. Yet in the imperial prison, she receives a secret letter from Xiao Jue, containing evidence of his rebellion: "You won the game, but lost me." His bloodshot eyes hold a love she never wrote into the story.
On the day the capital falls, he takes an arrow for her. "Your eyes can't lie." After ascending the throne, he slaps her proposal for a commercial tax on the court table. "My realm is one we shall govern together." When she teases him for changing the daily records, he rubs the callus on her hand and murmurs, "You were always my ending."
This is a battle of wits between an author and the villain she created. She writes of every kind of intrigue, yet falls into his trap; he conceals all his ambitions, yet changes course for her. When the plot goes off the rails, the pawn becomes the player, and the game of a turbulent age ends with one move: "Together, we scheme."
Although the characters written by the author were created by her, in that world, everyone is an individual and not controlled by the plot. This setting is very good, which is different from the plot version and the counterattack after being forced to awaken. Don't regret watching the series
