At midnight on the Ghost Festival, Xu Hesheng heard strange, hurried footsteps coming from the living room.
A shadow drifted silently through the abandoned old house next door, and a black cat darted past.
He had thought it was just a wandering ghost causing trouble. But as he investigated further, he learned that the underworld was in chaos, with countless supernatural beings escaping into the world of the living.
Remnants of souls, vengeful ghosts, ghost kings, Taoist priests, and underworld envoys: the order between the worlds of the living and the dead was quietly collapsing.
There was no need to keep running. He would have to learn to uncover the obsessions binding these spirits, subdue them, and guide lost souls back to the spirit realm.
And so the story began.
