What happens when the most irreverent relic restorer meets the most absurd ghost-hunting System?
Yang Xiaojian is the youngest relic-restoration intern at the Palace Museum. His everyday activities include, but are not limited to:
✔ Heating bronze artifacts in a microwave to remove rust, then getting caught on camera and going viral online
✔ Drawing Ultraman on an ancient painting with cinnabar, making a senior expert so furious he has to press his philtrum
✔ Using Emperor Yongzheng's imperial back scratcher as...a back scratcher (System alert: This is an ancient Demon-Slaying Whip!)
Then one day, he activates the "Socialist Core Values Ghost-Hunting System"
“Detected: The throne in the Hall of Supreme Harmony is spinning by itself at midnight. Host, proceed immediately!”
“Helpful tip: We recommend using a selfie stick instead of a peachwood sword. The higher your livestream's viewership, the greater your damage bonus!”
And so Yang Xiaojian's daily life becomes:
By day, restoring artifacts: slacking off under the watchful eye of his icy, glamorous team leader and fighting the orange cat Qian Xiaosi for tribute offerings.
By night, hunting ghosts: exorcising water spirits with a fire hydrant, using AR glasses to beautify a painting's demon, and battling the noose that hanged Emperor Chongzhen in a square-dance showdown.
When a thousand-year-old mermaid corpse is discovered beneath the Palace Museum, terracotta warriors start wandering around Panjiayuan, and portraits of emperors from every dynasty vanish to throw a wild party...
Yang Xiaojian: “Boss, I'd like to request that the staffing for the Palace Museum's Department of Paranormal Incident Management be finalized!”
