Forensic doctor Lin Mo returns to his hometown and ancestral home to investigate the mysterious deaths of his parents ten years ago. The moment he steps into the mold-covered courtyard, one eerie incident follows another: sobbing in the dead of night, a black pottery bowl that moves by itself, the bloody words “Su Xiulian” on the wall, and a ghostly woman in a cheongsam appearing in the mirror. As his investigation deepens, he discovers that his parents’ deaths are connected to a “Corpse-Transcendence Array” beneath the old house. A copper key left behind by his mother can even unlock the body in the morgue’s refrigerated cabinet, where blue mandrakes are growing. When he finds a bronze cauldron engraved with “Guihai Blood Sacrifice” in the basement, the sealed family curse suddenly awakens. His grandmother, it turns out, was the sole survivor of a village disappearance in western Hunan in 1995, while beneath the foundations of the old house lies a “Vengeful Spirit Pot” forged through the blood sacrifice of living people. Lin Mo must decipher the forbidden arts of the Lingfei Scripture before midnight on the Ghost Festival, or he will be forged into a new offering alongside his parents’ souls. Caught between forensic reason and occult curses, he uses a scalpel to cut through spirits and the logic of autopsy reports to decipher talismans. At last, beside an ancient well at the boundary between yin and yang, he confronts a vengeful spirit wearing his mother’s face and uncovers the cruel truth: “Su Xiulian” was a Gu sorceress sacrificed alive a century ago, and he himself is a vessel reborn for the blood sacrifice.
